My New Nephew!

I have a nephew! His name is Jonathan Ansom Rytting. This is the best picture I've got so far. It's pretty fuzzy because it's off of Skype using a computer camera. He's only a few days old. He was due on the 20th of December, but he was born on the 22nd. My sister Megan and her husband Anton are very happy, and very tired already!

Bug

This is a cool praying mantis that I found tangled in a web. He was still alive, but fairly weak, so I snapped off a few pictures before putting him in a bush. Isn't he cute?

Gypsy and Me, Again

This is Gypsy and me cuddling, and a picture of her in a box she found on the floor. We cuddle a lot, and I have tons of pictures of us. I also have tons of pictures of her on and in things. She looooves boxes! She doesn't do anything in them, just sits. Whatever floats your boat I guess.
A side note: I'm not terribly happy with our kitties right now. I was bringing in groceries, and neglected to feed them before I put the groceries away. I went to sit on the couch, and found that one of the cats (we're not sure which) had managed to pee on the following: my leather coat, a cashmere scarf, our plaid wool blanket from Scotland, and the cushion itself. The cushion cover is currently in the wash, but we will have a hefty dry cleaning bill. Pppthh.

A Wet Mango

Mango has discovered that if he flips the top off of the fish's filter, he can dip his head in and take a bath! Of course, he only really gets his head wet, but I doubt he realizes it. I'm not sure how the fish feel about this, but Mango just thinks it's the bee's knees. The cats also have caught onto this, but they drink the water rather than bathe in it. I can't understand this one. At least for Mango it's a warm bath, but actually drinking the fishy water?

Kreeter's Laid Back

We walked into our bedroom one day to find Skeet laying on his back, head on the pillow. I ran to get the camera, but I don't think he appreciated his picture getting taken!

At Mountainworks

I get in random moods to take pictures. I have files full of self-portraits and pictures of the cats, and quite a few of Adam. Here's one of Adam at work, and me visiting him! I made him take a picture of me. I love this outfit...

Gypsy's Costume

I actually made a Halloween costume for Gypsy, though she only wore it for about a minute. She's a black-eyed susan! Isn't she adorable? And doesn't she look soooo happy? Hahahaha! *No animals were harmed in the making of these pictures.

My Cool Hat

I guess the title says it all... This is my new hat that I've been wearing a lot recently. Adam says it gives me a chic bohemian look. I like that.

Glamour Shots

I tried to do some "glamour shots" of the kitties. Some turned out great, some didn't... Oh, well. There's only so much you can do with kittens, especially ours! :)

Utah County Fair

I went to the County Fair with Julie a little while ago. It was rather a disappointment, but we had fun anyway. It was free to get in, and of course the food and drinks were exorbitantly priced, but the rides were a minimum of $4 each go! Isn't that crazy? Anyway, the first pic is me beside a cow whose head was bigger than my entire torso, the second is the airbrushed tattoo I got, and the third is of some cute sheep with curly bits left on their heads (all of the other sheep had shaved heads)...

Life

An update on life... I lost my job a couple of weeks ago, and Adam's taken on more hours at Mountainworks. I'm unable to get a new job yet, due to crappy mental circumstances, but I'm taking on more dog walking clients now, so at least it will mean a little more extra cash then we otherwise would have had. I've started my own company, called Fairy Tails. Cute, huh? I'm a professional Pet Sitter and Dog Walker now. Due to the superfluous nature of my job, I can charge exorbitant amounts. :)
Skeet and Gypsy are rather mellow today, actually sleeping next to each other on the same couch, which is a rare occurrence. They get along pretty well, but Skeet is fairly particular about his sleeping arrangements. Mango was pretty good today, with minor headaches for me, which is good. He slept on top of my monitor while I surfed the net (I'm so hip with the computer jargon! :P) and didn't chew any important papers up. Both Key and Cloud have died. Key was put to sleep after her tumors were so bad she couldn't walk, and we figured it was time. Cloud died about two weeks after. She had a small tumor, but it was losing Key that did it for her, I think. I still miss them, but it doesn't hurt so much anymore.
Starting next month I'm taking a lace tatting class. As boring as that may sound to some people, it's very exciting for me. I've also finally learned how to knit, so hopefully I'll be able to make knitted things as well as crocheted stuff.
I know that it's not the New Year yet or anything, but I'm going to make a couple of resolutions right now. I figure they're just as binding as the ones that you make on New Year's Day, anyway. I'm going to blog more often, as well as finally add some more stuff to my online shop. My crocheted hats I'm going to try and get sold here in Provo, though, on consignment. I won't tell you where yet, because the owner might not agree, but the owner's wife is excited about it, so I think it will happen! We all know that the wives run everything, anyway! Heehee...

Strange Sighting

This is an actual picture of Adam doing dishes! It is such a rare occurrence that I had to document it with a picture. :) I love you, Adam!

Gypsy in a Box

We got a cool scanner/printer/photo printer thingie, and Gypsy just loved the box that it came in! She somehow got past all of the styrofoam and wrappings that were in the box and camped in the back for a while. Isn't she adorable?

Solte

This is a little black kitty, skinny as all get-out and very young. She's already had a litter of kittens. She's very sweet, but you have to let her approach you, or she'll get freaked out. She has one white whisker, so I named her Salty, or rather, Solte, after Solte Ray (the manga series).

New Dawn Opening!

Amanda and I went to the midnight opening for the new Twilight book last Friday night. It was very crowded and not terribly fun, except for when Amanda and I wandered off to take some cool pictures. I dressed up as a Volturi (a bad vampire) and Amanda was the main character Bella after she had fallen in her birthday cake and had her arm cut. She used paint for the blood, but the frosting on her shoulder is real. That made it difficult for her to navigate all of the crowds! The first two are really cool pics of me :) and the third is a setup of Mana and I. I'm about to attack her, and she's being dramatic. The fourth is a pic we took next to a Red Cross van that was in the parking lot because it was funny.

Adam's Beard Grew Eyes!

This is a very adorable picture of Adam messing around with Gypsy. Isn't it cute? It looks like Adam's beard grew a couple of yellow eyes.

My Rats

Here's a cute picture that I took myself, of me and Key (the brown one) and Cloud. It's pretty much the only picture that I have of both of them looking in generally the same direction, and both holding still long enough for me to snap one off!

Mango at the Window

Here's a short video of Mango I made today, because I found my camera! I thought that it had been lost, but I unearthed it from underneath a pile of stuff in our living room when I cleaned this morning. You will probably have to turn up the volume quite a bit, because my voice is rather soft. Isn't Mango such a cute little booger? :)

Adam and Me

This is one of my favorite pictures of Adam and me together. Adam is actually almost smiling! :) Aren't we cute?

Fish Tank

I had a 45 gallon tank, with a whole bunch of fish. I had a lot of problems setting it up with the right fish, and in the end, I sold it because I didn't have time to take care of it. I even had a breeding pair of angelfish. I only kept the four tiger barbs, and got a catfish, and put them in a 10 gallon. I did have six tigers, but one got sick and died, and one got eaten by my needlefish when they were in the 45. Here's a pic of the 10 gallon now.

This is a short video of Skeet. He had found a dry kitchen sponge on the carpet, and proceeded to make it his best friend. Or something. :)

Horse

Horse. According to classical mythology Poseidon created the horse, and according to Virgil the first person that drove a four-in-hand was Erichthonius. In Christian art the horse is held to represent courage and generosity. It is an attribute of St Martin, St Maurice, St George and St Victor, all of whom are represented on horseback. It is a not uncommon emblem in the catacombs adn probably typifies the swiftness of life. The use of horse attributively usually denotes something that is coarse, inferior, or unrefined, as in horseradish, horse mushroom.

Murphy

This is Murphy, our newest addition to the family. She's a chinese dwarf hamster. I take her in a Kritter Keeper to work, and she eats lunch with me. She's discovered peanut butter, and I think we have a fan! She has the most adorable little star on her forehead, and when I pet her head, she closes her eyes and almost goes to sleep! She's named after Murphy from the Dresden files books.

Door

Yvaine, our little white mouse, died the 20th of April. Door, our white and brown mouse, had a skin infection that we tried to treat for a couple of weeks after that, but the strain was too much for her little body. We had her put to sleep a few days ago, and now she and Yvaine are together, gorging on sunflower seeds and taking as many naps as they like!

Rest in peace, my little mice.

Graduation

Sorry I haven't posted in a while... It's been really busy. Last week I officially graduated! Yay! My parents, brother, and parents-in-law came down to see me from Florida and Chicago. It was a lot of preparation and waiting for a 5 second walk across the stage, but it was worth it. However much waiting there was, it was still fun. I now have my tassle hung over a corner of my diploma on the wall. Adam even put on a suit and tie for me, and it wasn't even Sunday! :)

Continuation of the Word of Whenever

This is the Word of Whenever, switched over from my handmadebylauren blog.

Death in the pot. During a dearth in Gigal, there was made for the sons of the prophets a potage of wild herbs, some of which were poisonous. When they tasted the potage, they cried out 'there is death in the pot'. Elisha put some meal into it and the poisonous qualities were counteracted (2 Kings 4:40).

The War

I had just fed the cats, and Mango decided that he wanted to annoy Skeet some more. He climbed down from my shoulder and screamed at Skeet until he ran away. Mango then claimed Skeet's food bowl as his own, even picking up some food like that's what he really wanted in the first place. He also helped himself to the cat's water, but left Gypsy alone as she doesn't chase him around.

Mango the Lovebird

This is a picture of my Mango. He and Skeet are at war right now. They take turns chasing each other around the house, though sometimes they actually just hang out together on the back of the armchair.

Life

Life=Stress right now. This is my second day on the job, and most of it is cramming information into my mind and waiting. I have yet to take my first phone call. There's a lot of waiting around and goofing around on the internet, because it's not very busy right now.
I didn't bring much food, so I'm hungry. Hungry like a hippo. Our cats are rather constantly hungry now, too, because they're on a diet. After her spay surgery, Gypsy gained about 4 1/2 pounds, making her about 12 1/2 pounds total. For her size, she should be about 8 pounds. That makes her extremely chubby. She looks like a furry black pillow on legs. Skeet is about 14 1/2 pounds, which is only a pound or so over what he should be, so he's even more upset about the diet than Gypsy because he doesn't need it. We haven't been able to figure a better situation out, though, and I won't let Skeet get too skinny. :)

New Blog

This will now be my family/pets/life blog, and handmadebylauren.blogspot.com will be my crafty blog. I realize a switchover like this will likely rattle some people, but I'm sure we can all adjust under the pressure. :) I'm not sure if I can transfer blogs from handmade to princess, but if I can't, the world will still go on.
I chose Princess Greeneyes because it's my favorite nickname given to me by my favorite person - Adam. Pets are pretty self-explainable, as I have many and I like to talk about them and take pictures of them.
